Volunteer Paper Essay Example For Students

Volunteer Paper Essay For my Volunteer Paper Essay I needed to chip in at a creature medical clinic or safe house since I am studying Pre-Vet. At that point I chose to accomplish something other than what's expected. I decided to understudy show first graders at Mckinley Elementary. It is astonishing to me that I decided. I generally said that I abhorred kids and wanted to ever work with them I even said I could never bring forth any children since I detested them to such an extent. Indeed I really making the most of my experience without question. I picked this action since I needed to take a stab at something other than what's expected that I thought I wouldnt like. The instructor that I accomplished this charitable effort for was my first grade educator at Mckinley Elementary when I went to class there in 1986. The explanation that I abhor kids so much is on the grounds that had a downright terrible involvement in them. In the late spring of a year ago I child sat these children over the road from me that moved here from New York. They were the children from hellfire. They were so irritating, and dissatisfied. For example they generally requested that I get them Taco Bell, and when I did, they would state, for what reason did you get me this?, or I need more, you better get me more. I despised them. I was so worried from them that I would cry around evening time. I truly didnt need to keep an eye on any longer yet I felt awful on the off chance that I said no. So I thought I couldnt judge all children on those three. I needed to give others a possibility, and didnt need to abandon having children. I did numerous fun and energizing things while I was working with these children at Mckinley. The main day Mrs. Aiken presented me. She stated, Boys and young ladies this is Taysha, and I was her instructor when she was your age. They were all in amazement. They couldnt accept that I had her as an instructor. The principal kid I helped was a dark young lady named Shontele. I helped her with her math work and perusing. I trained her to aggregate diminishes in Math when you are including or deducting. For instance: Say you have ten take away three. I advised her to place ten into gatherings of five, at that point cross out three, and tally what number of there was left. She delighted in that and thought it was currently a lot simpler to do her Math. I additionally took in the contrast between what was good and bad. The primary day I went I had my eyebrow ring in and she didnt like it to an extreme. She inquired as to whether it approved of my mom. She stated, Does your mom state you can have that? I explained to her no and she inquired as to why I didnt hear her out. She then ! inquired as to whether I despite everything live at home, and disclosed to her yes. She said that in the event that I despite everything inhabited home, I needed to regard her since it was her home and her entitlement to guide me. She said regardless of whether I was eighteen she despite everything reserved the privilege to choose what I can do on the off chance that I lived in her home. Well I tuned in and took the eyebrow ring out they following day. At the point when the time had come to leave they were all frantic at me, they needed me to remain longer, so I guaranteed them I would return the next week. The second day I went to the class I work with the class through and through. I chip away at some math issues on the PC, I needed to assist them with working the issues out in their mind and when they had the appropriate response they got the opportunity to type it in and it would let you know whether it was correct or wrong. .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 , .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 .postImageUrl , .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 .focused content zone { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 , .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711:hover , .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711:visited , .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711:active { border:0!important; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; murkiness: 1; progress: darkness 250ms; webkit-progress: haziness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711:active , .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711:hover { obscurity: 1; progress: mistiness 250ms; webkit-change: darkness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 .focused content territory { width: 100%; position: relat ive; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content embellishment: underline; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; outskirt range: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; textual style weight: striking; line-tallness: 26px; moz-fringe span: 3px; content adjust: focus; content enhancement: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: supreme; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711 .focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u6d4c200f03ed4e5eb615bf3a38bce711:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Tennessee Williams And The Southern Belle Essay As it turned out they got every one of them right out of three levels After that movement I helped them work out and sound out words that began finished with (ck) like tack or pack. William Shakespeare is well-known for his excellent writings in drama, tragedy, and romance. He excels in the storytelling of a tragic hero, and the tragic flaw that the hero possesses. In Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello, the Moor of Venice (rpt. In Thomas R. Arp and Greg Johnson, Perrine’s Literature: Structure, Sound, and Sense, 10th ed. [Boston: Wadsworth, 2009], 1273-1366), there are several contributing factors in the tragic outcome of the play. Iago, the primary antagonist, targets Othello in various ways to obtain revenge and this contributes to the demise of beloved characters. Although Iago and Othello contribute heavily to the final result of the tragedy: Roderigo, Emilia, and Desdemona play key parts in the end of the play. Roderigo, a wealthy Venetian gentleman, is in love with Desdemona and has called upon her father, Brabantio, various times for her hand in marriage. Desdemona has no romantic feelings towards Roderigo, but that has yet to stop him from try ing to buy her heart. When Iago and Roderigo learn of Othello and Desdemona’s nuptials, they quickly plot to tell Brabantio of the news they have heard: â€Å"Sir, I will answer any thing†¦ For thus deluding you† (I.I.118-138). This was Roderigo’s first contributing act to the tragic outcome of the play. He took sides with the antagonist and became a secondary antagonist. Rossetti Manuscripts and Innocence and the Songs of...

Rossetti Manuscripts and Innocence and the Songs of Experience Innocence and the Songs of Experience, and the poems from the Rossetti manuscripts, are the poems of a man with a profound interest in human emotions, and a profound knowledge of them. (Grant, Pg 507) These two famous books of poetry written by William Blake, not only show mens emotions and feelings, but explain within themselves, the childs innocence, and mans experience. A little over two centuries ago, William Blake introduced to the English literary world his two most famous books of poetry: the Songs of Innocence and the Songs of Experience. In his own day, he was widely believed to be quite mad, though those who knew him best thought otherwise.†¦show more content†¦Blake uses a fairly clever conceit in the last stanza to have the Piper manufacture a rural pen out of a hollow reed, rather then to pluck one from a bird, for it is a routine pastoral fact that pipes are made of hollow reeds; the pen, then, is thus a transformed pipe. And I made a rural pen, And I staind the water clear, And I wrote my happy songs, Every child may joy to hear. Clear suggests innocent and to stain clear water is symbolically to corrupt innocence, water being as clear and fluid as the air or cloud which are home to the child. Yet staind in one context may have moral connotations, while in another it may not. For instance, in church, one is not troubled by the thought of stained-glass windows? This is one example of Blakes ambiguities. Blake is filled with secondary and tertiary counter-meanings that lurk like quicksand or trapdoors underfoot, and an innocent reader of Blake must learn from experience to tread tiptoe through the primary level (which turns out not to be primary after all) and to leap and dance along all the others. (Ferber, Pg 5) Another example of this allegedly ambiguity is within the first stanza of The Shepherd: How sweet is the Shepherds sweet lot, From the morn to the evening he strays. The shepherd, who should be looking for stray sheep, has gone astray himself. This subversive

Many companies have introduced stock option as a major component of executive compensation. The idea of the directors and the management was to align the interest of the management with those of the shareholders. To start the vesting periods, combined with a belief that short-term earnings fuel stock prices, encouraged executives to manage earnings, exercise their options early, and cash out opportunistically (Dimopoulos and Wagner, 2016). The governance and the features of the listed companies help in the transparency and awareness of the company and the management. Corporate governance is a very important factor for the public listed company. Many responsibilities of the management is upon the shareholders of company. With the norms are regulated and there is globalization and privatization of the companies which will eventually improve the Corporate Governance and this is one of the important issue of the OECD program me (Jain and Jamali, 2016). Overriding function of the directors in creating shareholders value The Board of directors of the public listed companies have overriding duties which is to manage the affairs the of the company and act as a link between the owners and the employees therefore the directors and the company secretary has to manage the affairs and business of the company and for the benefit and the interest so as give the return and so that the company is satisfied in the long run in the best possible way (Yoshikawa, Zhu and Wang, 2014). The Board shall be responsible for different lines of business or functions. The CEO and the Chairman have prepared and presented the rest of the Board prior to decision (Larcker and Tayan, 2015). Goal of maximizing shareholder value is the primary goal for the company Every business Corporation makes available to the public the goods and services and thus earns the profit that attracts the investments and thereby enhancing the economy. The main aim of the business is to enhance the value of the company and thereby helps in the growth of the company (Lazonick, 2014). In order to improve the long term viability of the corporation and in order to improve the responsibility of the company and to take care for the well being of the society and the responsibility of the enterprises. The main objective of the business is to generate the economic returns to the owners. The directors as well as the CEO of the company should be focused on the shareholders value and the corporation will realize the value of the executives and the corporate board members and the shareholders will maximize the value of the shareholders. The shareholders value is defined as the present value of cash flow and the discounted rate that reflects the risk of the cash flows. The maximization of shareholders value is not the same as maximizing the short term profit as per share or manipulating stock prices through accounting fraud. The corporate governance focuses on the listed companies and particularly in the Countries which have developed economy. The main governance issue is to align with the legal and the institutional and regulatory framework that helps to align the interests of shareholders and managers. The Policy maker has the incentive to the Board and the management to act in the interest of the company and its shareholders; and furnish investors with sufficient monitoring information. The primary risk is that of the non controlling shareholders and it will end up ina situation where the controlling shareholder may use his or her position to deprive the non-controlling shareholder of influence over major decisions and significant distribution of the business earnings. Many Countries have the jurisdiction which prevents them to abuse the non controlling shareholders and this apply to both the listed and public companies (Lazonick, 2016). According to participants, a corporate governance framework elaborated listed companies could not only help to define the internal and external stakeholders expectations ex ante, but also, and more importantly, assist judiciaries, auditors, lawyers and other professionals in solving problems ex post. The prime responsibility of the corporate board of directors and this helps in protecting the shareholders asset and so that they can get a return on the investment. The boards of directors have a financial duty which helps in the shareholders value which is also known as the fiduciary duty. The board of directors is the highest governing authority within the management structure at a corporation or publicly traded business. It is the board's job to select, evaluate, and approve appropriate compensation for the company's chief executive officer (CEO). The particular ownership structure of a corporation has a huge impact on the effectiveness of the board of directors to govern. In a company where a large, single shareholder exists, that entity or individual investor can effectively control the corporation. If the director has a problem, he or she can appeal to the controlling shareholder. In a company where no controlling shareholder exists, the directors should act as if one did exist and attempt to protect this imaginary entity at all times. In a relatively few number of companies, the controlling shareholder also serves as the CEO and / or Chairman of the Board. In this case, a director is completely at the will of the owner and has no effective way to override his or her decisions (McCahery, Sautner and Starks, 2016). Corporate Governance helps in (1) It ensures the accountability and responsiveness of the corporation to its shareholders; (2) It promotes behaviors and compensation practices that reinforce a long-term perspective; and (3) It encourages a rich dialogue on matters of importance between investors and companies. The In order to focus on the enterprise and to improve the structure and then to focus on the maximization of shareholder value. Finally we can say that in order to improve the controlling power of the value-extracting CEO, including a) In banning stock buybacks (Omarova, 2016) b) In requiring executive compensation that rewards innovation rather than speculation and manipulation, and c) In placing stakeholders representing households as taxpayers, workers, and consumers on boards of directors of publicly listed companies, along with shareholders who represent households as savers. An intellectual precondition for these reforms is the rejection of the ideology that companies should be run to maximize shareholder value, which means replacing agency theory with innovation theory as a mode of analyzing how the operation of an economy, supported by the strategies and structures of the business enterprises within it, can attain the objectives of stable and equitable economic growth (Tricker and Tricker, 2015). Conclusion In these days, it is important to choose a corporate objective for the firm and t is extremely important that the determinants have a success or failure of a corporation in controlling the market. In order to gain shareholder value maximization and stakeholders interest satisfaction the key role is to create the profit for company. Which governance is an important objective which should be followed by the corporation and it helps in maximizing shareholder value or satisfying stakeholders interests or balancing the interests of shareholders and stakeholders. Every corporation helps to pursue their own goal. Thus in order to grow the company and for sustainability and wealth maximization it is important that the company focuses on the wealth for betterment and the directors play a vital role in this process. How to structure a winning executive summary for your bid

How to structure a winning executive summary for your bid How to write a winning executive summary for your bid The executive summary of your bid, tender or proposal is the most important part of the entire document. And how you structure your executive summary is key to how well it works. However well-written the rest of your bid or sales proposal is, many people will only have the time (or motivation) to read the executive summary. More than this, these readers will often be key decision-makers. This could be a problem, as often this crucial section ends up being something of an afterthought: a few paragraphs or pages that get dashed off when the author is already exhausted from writing the real proposal. And doing that could be a costly mistake. So how do you summarise a carefully argued document – which can sometimes run to dozens of pages – into a one or two page executive summary? The secret is to keep one idea in mind: Your executive summary is a journey. Your executive summary is like a miniature version of your entire bid or proposal. Like your bid or proposal, its a way of guiding your client from where they are now to where they need to be – and making it clear why they need your help in getting there. This article will walk you through each stage of this journey, so that by the end youll know how to write executive summaries that give your bid the best possible chance of winning. Situation First things first: you need to start your summary somewhere safe and non-controversial. Begin with where your prospect is now, giving a summary of their present situation. Dont be contentious – its important to begin from a place of consensus between you and your prospect. Why things must change After outlining your clients position, you need to make it clear you understand why things need to change. Ask yourself: Why did your client put this out to bid or tender in the first place? An organisation issues an ITT or RFP because they have a particular set of problems to address or important needs to be met. Now is your chance to convincingly show you really understand them and can sum them up clearly. Research is key to really nailing this part of the summary. Dont skip it. Theres no way to effectively understand how your client sees their problems without going out and learning more about them. Learn everything you can about the prospects problems as they understand them. You want to be writing about the problem in their terms, using their language, so you can show you understand the problem exactly as they do. If you or one of your colleagues knows the client (such as someone else in sales or account management), talk to them to learn more. If you have any emails where the client has talked about their problems and challenges, read them. And if you have an opportunity to talk to the client yourself, take it. What your proposed solution is Next comes your proposal. This will outline how your solution can solve the problems your prospect faces. The most important ideas to include here are win themes – the areas that youve identified as being the most important things to communicate to your client. Should you emphasise that you are the most experienced provider? The cheapest? The most secure? Do you offer an approach to the solution that will particularly resonate with your client? Use what you think they regard as most important to guide you on this: dont assume or just stress what youre proud of. When youre highlighting win themes, make sure to back them up with something concrete. To take our example proposal (below), we dont just say we take a systematic approach. Instead, we talk about how we take a systematic approach, giving specific information about our writing analysis. Reassurance Its only after youve shown a clear understanding of your prospects situation that you should offer some information about your company. You want to make it clear that youre a capable organisation who can handle the problem (and that your client isnt going to regret choosing you!). Talking about your own company earlier than this point sends the message that youd sooner talk about yourself than explain your solution to your prospect. Indeed, its a very common mistake to talk too much about your own company and not much about your client. To avoid it, try this rule of thumb: if youve mentioned your own company more than youve mentioned your client, you need to go back and check if youre really making your bid or proposal about your clients needs (and not about how great your organisation is). What it looks like in practice: example executive summary You can download an example of an executive summary and see this structure in practice here. And if youd like to see it in action on your own bids or proposals, check out our Bid, tender and sales-proposal writing course for individuals and for teams. Style But how can you condense dozens of pages into one or two? First, youll need to ensure your written style is clear and concise. Have a look at our articles on keeping it short and simple and using the active voice for more. You can also cut down on space by using bullet points, or if you have a particularly compelling graphic, you can use that too. Getting it right The executive summary is the part of your bid or proposal that most readers will read – and it could be the only part that key decision-makers look at. It can take time to distil everything down into a few pages. But get it right and youll take your reader on a simple, persuasive journey through your arguments – a journey which has the best possible chance of ending in your bid getting the thumbs up. Learn What a Dipole Is in Chemistry and Physics

Learn What a Dipole Is in Chemistry and Physics A dipole is a separation of opposite electrical charges. A dipole is quantified by its dipole moment  (ÃŽ ¼). A dipole moment is the distance between charges multiplied by the charge. The unit of the dipole moment is the Debye, where 1 Debye is 3.34Ãâ€"10−30  C  Ã‚ ·m. The dipole moment is a vector quantity that has both magnitude and direction. The direction of an electric dipole moment points from the negative charge toward the positive charge. The larger the difference in electronegativity, the greater the dipole moment. The distance separating  opposite electrical charges also affects the magnitude of the dipole moment. Types of Dipoles There are two types of dipoles electric dipoles and magnetic dipoles. An electric dipole occurs when positive and negative charges (like a proton and an electron or a cation and an anion) are separate from each other. Usually, the charges are separated by a small distance. Electric dipoles may be temporary or permanent. A permanent electric dipole is called an electret. A magnetic dipole occurs when there is a closed loop of electric current, such as a loop of wire with electricity running through it. Any moving electric charge also has an associated magnetic field. In the current loop, the direction of the magnetic dipole moment points through the loop using the right-hand grip rule. The magnitude of the magnetic dipole moment is the current of the loop multiplied by the area of the loop. Examples of Dipoles In chemistry, a dipole usually refers to the separation of charges within a molecule between two covalently bonded atoms  or atoms that share an ionic bond. For example, a water molecule (H2O) is a dipole. The oxygen side of the molecule carries a net negative charge, while the side with the two hydrogen atoms has a net positive electrical charge. The charges of a molecule, like water, are partial charges, meaning they dont add up to the 1 for a proton or electron. All polar molecules are dipoles. Even a linear nonpolar molecule like carbon dioxide (CO2) contains dipoles. There is a charge distribution across the molecule in which charge is separated between the oxygen and carbon atoms. Even a single electron has a magnetic dipole moment. An electron is a moving electrical charge, so it has a small current loop and generates a magnetic field. Although it may seem counter-intuitive, some scientists believe a single electron may also possess an electric dipole moment! A permanent magnet is magnetic because of the magnetic dipole moment of the electron. The dipole of a bar magnet points from its magnetic south to its magnetic north. The only known way to make magnetic dipoles is by forming current loops or via quantum mechanics spin. The Dipole Limit A dipole moment is defined by its dipole limit. Essentially this means the distance between charges converges to 0 while the strength of the charges diverges to infinity. The product of the charge strength and separating distance is a constant positive value. Dipole as an Antenna In physics, another definition of a dipole is an antenna that is a horizontal metal rod with a wire connected to its center.

Business Ethics - Essay Example She is told that it is harmless and owing to her lack of knowledge, she doubts that the hospital management is right in saying so. She cannot jeopardize her job on the basis of a doubt! Let’s analyze the matter with the utilitarian theory of ethics. The utilitarian theory of ethics says that any action whose consequences are good is justified. By reporting the company’s matter to her friend, Deborah would never be able to achieve a favorable result. Everybody in the management would suspect her to have leaked out the news and would take severe action against her in addition to firing her from the job. Besides, if she tells her friend, it would create a bad image of the hospital in the public eye. Hence, by leaking out this information, Deborah would never be able to do the ultimate good. She might suspect that this would at least save the life of the community, but she needs scientific knowledge to be sure enough! So the utilitarian theory of ethics suggests that Debora h should drop her plans of leaking this information. The reasonable limit of loyalty to one’s employer is the very state of doubt that Deborah is in. â€Å"†¦acts should be classified as morally right or wrong only if the consequences are of such significance that a person would wish to see the agent compelled, not merely persuaded and exhorted, to act in the preferred manner† (â€Å"Utilitarian ethics†). Once she is sure that the hospital’s waste dumping act has lethal implications upon the environment, she may break her loyalty with the hospital. By doing so, she may jeopardize her job, but this world is about much more than just earning money. She would sacrifice her job this way, but will be rewarded for her noble act and sacrifice by God Almighty. Certainly, things would have been different had Deborah been in a position of greater authority. A potential reason why the managers are not taking her seriously is the fact that she is nothing more than a

Critical Analysis of Malcolm X Learning to Read Essay

Critical Analysis of Malcolm X Learning to Read - Essay Example Malcolm X’s â€Å"Learning to Read† has several important points. In addition to his narrative of how he got his education, Malcolm X’s essay also revealed how he came to be a leader of the black separatist movement that urged black Americans to cut their political, social and economic ties with the white community. The essay â€Å"Learning to Read† emphasized more what it intended to say when it expressed the experience of incredulity of the author’s first attempt to write sensibly. Malcolm X’s first sentence â€Å"It was because of my letters that I happened to stumble upon starting to acquire some kind of a homemade education† beautifully expressed the mindset when the author began his self-education.   Also, the comparison that he â€Å"had been the most articulate hustler out there† yet he â€Å"wasn’t even functional† to write a simple English provided the reader a â€Å"feel† of the difficulty of hi s experience of trying to write. Malcolm X was already an educated man when wrote his essay â€Å"Learning to Read† but he chose to use the analogy â€Å"nearly all the words that might as well have been in Chinese† to depict the colloquial perspective of an uneducated man who was having a hard time understanding the text of the books. We may think that assigning the word â€Å"Chinese† to a written text that is not understood to be wrong but the context of the essay made it appropriate and emphatic.... The usage of a street language â€Å"some kind of homemade education† also emphasized without explaining further what his state of mind was. Also, the comparison that he â€Å"had been the most articulate hustler out there† yet he â€Å"wasn’t even functional† to write a simple English provided the reader a â€Å"feel† of the difficulty of his experience of trying to write. In between his understanding how the white man had oppressed the non-whites, Malcolm X craft ily narrated his journey towards his learning that is engaging to the reader. The narration about how he would sneak past the guard to read during â€Å"lights out† time in prison made the essay more personal and engaging. The emphasis on his painstaking effort to copy the whole library to his tablet and reading it aloud to himself tells that he literally started as ignorant about the written text. Then slowly, his word based broadened and begun to understand the books that he wanted to read. From then on, there was no stopping for him to read and to search further for knowledge. It will be inappropriate to describe that Malcolm X was able to educate himself despite him being in prison. In his words, he was even grateful of his circumstances because it lead him towards erudition, â€Å"prison enabled

Andrew Marvells To His Coy Mis :: essays research papers

The Non-Discriminatory Nature of Time in Andrew Marvell’s “To His Coy Mistress'; Time passes. Its journey is oblivious to power, weakness, beauty, or mercy. The nature of time itself lies in its unrelenting progression through life, until we are removed from it’s favor and then wither and die. The purpose of most carpe diem poetry is to draw a character’s attention (usually the female) to the pressing nature of time’s progress, as well as illustrating the bountiful rewards of seizing the moment and giving into the momentary passions of life. Andrew Marvell’s poem “To His Coy Mistress'; is a classic example of carpe diem poetry, exemplifying the foreboding nature of time. It’s distinction from similar works, however, lies in its inherent ability to express the ominous nature of time’s advancement in terms of both the male and female’s perspectives. Rather than lament about missed opportunities, “To His Coy Mistress'; actually serves to force one to consider how we compartmentalize time into stages of life, and thus commit ourselves to its mercy without allowing ourselves to relish its immediate rewards. Marvell’s sense of time affects both his characters in unique ways, and therefore unites their plight as a human cause rather than a gender based issue. Andrew Marvell expresses this point by structuring his poem into three components that propose the issues of time’s existence, its limited availability, and finally a solution of sorts. The first section of “To His Coy Mistress'; serves the task of identifying that time is a limited commodity, and thus can not be wasted. Immediately the speaker states openly that “Had we but world enough, and time, This coyness, lady, were no crime'; (1-2). The implication here, if taken at face value, suggests that the mistress’ coyness is a crime only because of the lack of time available. The speaker continues with “We would sit down, and think which way To walk, and pass our long love’s day'; (3-4). The tone of such a verse is overtly suspicious, automatically suggestive of the insidious nature of a man hungry to feed his lust. However, another possibility lies in the direct message Marvell puts forth in his verse. The spoken comments themselves suggest that “We would sit down, and think…'; and “pass our long love’s day'; (3,4). The impression given is one of joint merriment in love. The speaker associates the passion of his coy mistress with his own, creating a sense of understanding and common ground.

Individual Writing Assignment Essay

As requested, I have assessed the merits of the option presented at the meeting, and I have come up with the best recommendation to deal with the current issues. Despite the intriguing idea presented at the meeting, I feel it is not the best solution available for our current situation. In order to bring in more revenue for our amusement parks, I have concluded that we need to increase our ticket price on holidays and increase the varieties of the types of tickets that we offer. When analyzing our best solution, certain criteria needed to be met in order to establish a valid decision, including: a) Increase visits per customer b) Increase average spending per visit c) Attract new customers A) Different Tickets Ensure More Visits per Customer When we start to offer different types of tickets such as seasonal pass and yearly pass, average visits per customer would naturally increase due to the fact that we are offering these tickets. As a result, the sale of those tickets will generate enormous profit for us because of the average price of those tickets. Moreover, customers will happily and gladly purchase those tickets because seasonal and yearly passes are always a good deal. The guest card idea presented at the meeting does not address this decision criterion and this criterion is crucial for generating more revenue for amusement parks. Thus, by increasing the types of tickets we offer, we can generate significantly more revenue for Exquisite Entertainment. B) Higher Ticket Price Increase Customer Spending With the increase in ticket price on holidays and the increase in the types of tickets that we offer, customers’ average spending per visit will increase substantially mainly due to the ticket price. People go to amusement parks mostly on weekends and holidays. As a result, on those occasions the demand is extremely high. And according to the law of supply and demand, when demand is high, price should increase as well. Therefore, it is a suitable strategy to increase the ticket price on holidays to increase average spending per visit while without having to introduce special guest card to separate customers into different tiers and levels  that may ruin the whole customer experience. C) Attracting New Customers Without Losing Company’s Identity With the introduction of different varieties of ticket types, we are able to create a unique benefit to potential customers. New customers will be attracted greatly to our amusement parks because they can now enjoy our amusement parks several times at a discount price. Additionally, every type of customer will be satisfied and attracted instead of just time-starved, high-income professionals and their families proposed at the meeting. Therefore, by introducing different ticket types and not focusing our customers down to a narrow group, there will be more profits generated because we can attract more potential customers from various groups. And it fits our company’s history and culture perfectly as well. All of these factors make my recommendation a logical solution to Exquisite Entertainment, as it will not only increase average spending per visit with higher ticket price on holidays, but it will also attract new customers and increase visits per customer with different types of tickets. Ultimately, all factors lead to higher profits for our amusement parks.

The corporate was aware of the importance of communication between every personnel involved in the business. The corporate tried very best to keep the satisfaction of each personnel as moderate as possible by reducing conflict and considering everyones thoughts. This way the relationship among the workers and customers and related companies would stay healthy. Introduction This report attempts to look at the importance of communication in the world of one of the biggest franchise restaurant that is located in global scale, KFC ©. KFC © is a fast food restaurant chain based in the United States. KFC © has been a brand and operating segment, termed a concept of Yum! Brands , Inc since 1997. The main aspects of business covered in this report are: business demographics, organizational goals, organizational culture and ethics, management of knowledge resources, group dynamics, meeting management, stakeholders, and networks. Communication is required both within and outside the corporate in order for the employers and the employees to get involved in as efficient and productive interaction and operation. Good communication enables accompany to locate and target its stakeholders and relate to them. I believe for a corporate to grow successfully, it must appreciate the vitality of communication training. There may be special pr ocedures to prevent arguments, reasons to or not to employ people with diverse background, and such. Business Demographics Business demography is one of the key factors affecting business success. This is because businesses necessitate the differentiation of their products, depending on different characteristics of the population. KFC needs to find its own business demographics to attract customers in many ways. One example of their business demographics usage is the location of its shops. KFC used the demographics of local population and families to locate their stores in the optimal place possible. In a region, the whole building is being run as KFC restaurant (E.g. Quay St, Auckland Central), while some KFC shops are located within the Westfield, or other bigger markets. (E.g. Edmonton Rd, Te Atatu, Auckland) It is likely that the prosperity of each shop has varied the population of the potential customers, and considering those demographics, the company would have resulted the number to decide its shop sizes. Meanwhile, as people request more of nutrition information and processing methods ab out the products, KFC followed the customers needs to communicate with these potential customers. Theyve used methods of: Website https://www.kfc.co.nz/index.cfm?contentNodeID=423 Leaflet within the newspapers Television advertisement Since demographics are the statistical analysis used to identify markets for their goods and services, such communication method was an attempt to adapt into the market regarding to the business demographics (increased number of people requiring more information about the product). Such communication process promotes KFC to attract more customers, as theyve made their products more reliable, and this can ultimately result into the business growth. Organizational Goals NZ based KFC ©s main goal is to create the tastiest and best-loved chicken in New Zealand ( ©Copy Right 2010 KFC). To share the business objectives with all the staffs and the managers of the chain restaurants within New Zealand, KFC © uses several kinds of methods to communicate with their employees. Training programme: Every single KFC staff, even a part-time worker, needs to go through the training programme for the first few weeks of their work. However, the company continues the training throughout the entire career with KFC, providing life skills, technical skills, management skills and leadership coaching. One main reason for such intense training programme of KFC is to strengthen their sense of ownership, which includes holding firm on their business goals ( ©Copy Right 2010 KFC). Employees who went through these training programme will therefore concentrate on creating the tastiest and best-loved chicken (e.g. managers instruct staffs to use better-quality oil, part-time workers pay extra attention in food hygiene). Organizational culture and ethics Nowadays, the world is very much globalized that organizations inevitably encompass people from different culture and ethnic groups. It is the organizations role to have no barriers against individuals with different backgrounds. KFC New Zealand © requires all members of the organization to use English as their official language. To testify this, they have job interviews before they employ the workers. Such process is to allow fluent communication to occur not just amongst the organization members, but also between customers. Therefore official verbal communication is not a problem for KFC ©. Informal communication allows members of the organization to strengthen their social bond. Through private conversation, staffs can share common interests and sympathy other than their business conversation. Such behavior virtually improves the relationship amongst workers and increase productivity and efficiency in their production process. Cultural bonding (same culture) allows the members to take coordinated actions. However, there exists undesirable informal communication with members of different ethnic and cultural groups. Existing discrimination or isolation against minor ethic group is officially hard to identify. So members need to gain the ability to communicate with all members without discrimination. This can be done through training programme or national education. Management of knowledge resources Effective Knowledge management directly leads to the development of organizations. It deals with the real world execution including organizational adaptation, survival and competence against environmental changes. It focuses on doing the right things instead of doing things right. Ongoing training programme of KFC © mentioned above is a good example of the organizations effort to manage knowledge resources. Apart from the training programme, KFC © introduces its members regular performance reports to seek developmental potentials. Through this process, workers can be aware of their companys position in the market and will be motivated or instructed to find a solution for development. Senior members of the KFC © also take part in seminars and conferences for technical and strategic breakthrough. These activities allow them to manage their sub-groups more efficiently. Group Dynamics In an organization where teams of human resources are needed to achieve goals and provide innovative products and services, effective team communication is crucial; this is called group dynamics. It is also the ways each person functions to create in total a corporative atmosphere and achieve common goal. The KFC © has appreciated the concept of the importance of individuals thinking and meaning to produce collective team thinking and has quoted: For us, diversity is not a target its a way of life and a way of doing business. Everyone can and does make a difference in our organization (Yum! Brands, Inc.) The organization believes in the importance of actively seeking diversity (Yum! Brands, Inc.) in everyone, meaning that everyone has the potential to participate in solving problems, servicing customers and creating richer culture for the work environment. In a diverse group, of both culture and character, it is easy to have disagreements and conflicts that may need to b e managed rather than ignored. In reaction to such problem, the concept called norms can be put to action; norms are the expectations for behavior of all members working within the team (Renz and Greg, 2000) in other words ground rules for teams. Explicit norms will make it easier for members to commit to appropriate behavior and avoid unnecessary conflict. (ChaseP, 2003, ÃÆ' Ãƒâ€¦Ã‚ ½Ãƒâ€¹Ã…“ÃÆ' ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ´ÃƒÆ' ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬: 169) Table 1, below, shows some possible norms that could be considered by a team that values consensus decision making and wants its members to feel secure enough to express feelings and reveal thought. In other words, norms of high trust and openness to others ideas are vital for team learning, and ensure that the teams energy and intelligence are not wasted (ChaseP, 2003, ÃÆ' Ãƒâ€¦Ã‚ ½Ãƒâ€¹Ã…“ÃÆ' ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ´ÃƒÆ' ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬: 169). Table 1: Possible norms to encourage openness. A Start and finish on time. B Attend all meetings. C Maintain confidentiality. Note anything you regard as confidential to ensure that it is not discussed outside the meeting. D Make sure we understand what we will each do and bring to the next meeting. E See one another as equal, i.e. set seniority aside. F See differences as an asset. G Avoid blaming one person. H Learn from mistakes. (ChaseP, 2003, ÃÆ' Ãƒâ€¦Ã‚ ½Ãƒâ€¹Ã…“ÃÆ' ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ´ÃƒÆ' ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬: 388) Meeting management A meeting is the only place a group really exists and takes action as a group, not just as separate individuals (Schemerhorn, 1989) (ChaseP, 2003) There are number of advantages that meetings provide: An opportunity to share ideas and information and contribute ones thought before a decision is made. A human face for the organization. Interaction between members and solutions to problems can be offered productively. Opportunities to co-ordinate and co-operate. Increase individuals acceptance, build morale, commitment, and create a sense of belonging. For something that produces vast outcomes, board meetings are held only less than ten times annually; therefore, it is important to balance the structure of the meetings and manage interaction effectively and efficiently. The importance of correct orientation within the board meetings is appreciated by the KFC © and conducts responsibility: In preparation for meetings, Directors are advised to review t he materials that are sent to Directors in advance of those meetings. The Board believes it is critical for members to have materials on topics to be discussed sufficiently in advance of the meeting date and for Board members to be kept abreast of developments between Board meetings (Yum! Brandsinc., ÃÆ' Ãƒâ€¦Ã‚ ½Ãƒâ€¹Ã…“ÃÆ' ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ´ÃƒÆ' ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬: 6). This makes sure everyone understands the meetings purpose and ensures the meeting is both productive and satisfying. To make the meeting more productive, the committee may request any officer or employee of the Company or the Companys outside counsel or independent auditors to attend a meeting of the committee (ÃÆ' Ãƒâ€¦Ã‚ ½Ãƒâ€¹Ã…“ÃÆ' ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ´ÃƒÆ' ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬: 2). This encourages diversity among the meeting participants and sharing of free and useful ideas. The full Board should engage in discussions on strategic issues and ensure that there is sufficient time devoted to D irector interchange on these subjects (ÃÆ' Ãƒâ€¦Ã‚ ½Ãƒâ€¹Ã…“ÃÆ' ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ´ÃƒÆ' ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬: 7). Stakeholders Stakeholders for a corporate would include employees, employers, suppliers, customers, society, shareholders, etc. who can affect or be affected by the actions of the business. The interests for each stakeholder are different, and it is for the corporate to appropriately reach them. Like almost every other corporate in the world, KFC © uses internet website https://www.kfc.com/ to reach all its stakeholders at least for the initial phase, such as contact. For the customers, the comprehensive interests, such as the value, quality, customer care and ethical products (Wikipedia The Free Encyclopedia), are guided in the KFC © homepage within the Nutrition link. Legible guides to nutrition, chicken food allergies and exchange list (a meal planning system developed by dietitians primarily for people with diabetes ( ©Copy Right 2010 KFC)) are targeted for customers. For suppliers, the Supplier Code of Conduct is on display in the Social Responsibility link. C ompliance with Laws and Regulations, Employment Practices, Audit and Inspections, and Application ( ©Copy Right 2010 KFC) are explained in detail. For the benefit of the society, Packaging and the Environment, and Animal Welfare Program are explained as well. In the details are shown: KFC ©s commitment to the environment as [they] are to [their] food and customers ( ©Copy Right 2010 KFC), and the humane treatment of animals ( ©Copy Right 2010 KFC) that involves a farm level audit program leading in the areas of poultry care and handling ( ©Copy Right 2010 KFC). Networks For the network between the corporate and the people outside the business, communication is open to be reached through the contact revealed in the Contact Us link. KFC © promotes its openness in inviting new employees for numerous positions, such as assistant managers, general manager, shift supervisor and team members, to join their family. Videos filmed by current employees that reflect on their life at KFC © are available for everyone to watch on their site, allowing second-hand experience prior to applying. Conclusion In a popular, global scale corporate like KFC ©, a community is formed with every individual who take part in the business, from customers to CEO. In such vast community, communication performs a very important role in allowing a fluent and efficient production of goods and services. A good communication is also required in order to exchange information between people with same interest and different culture. Because KFC © appreciates the need for cultural diversity in its corporate, their attention to communication among employees is underscored. Punctual meetings are needless to say and are met every time, as compulsory, with bold pre-notification. To make the meetings as productive as possible, many means are incorporated. The means to avoid conflict within the company required a special form of communication called norms. This allowed a civilized compromise to take place between people with different ideas, leading to even better result. Good means of communication within a corporate brings satisfaction to the customers needs and the business. Recommendations As KFC © sees, creating a mellifluous communication means is very important as it minimizes any confusion that may create conflict, and produces goods in efficient and productive way. Training programmes targeted for prospective employees can allow the corporate to educate the new-comers the ways of communications that are used within the business. Involving employees in various cultures by employing people with diverse cultural background will definitely help to lighten up the working environment and help to relate to customers with various ethnics. The use of internet website allows customers and interested people to reach and understand KFC ©. This means, as well as televisions and pamphlets, will be useful to inform the customers about the healthy facts of the food. The use of norms in previous pages should be adopted in order to minimize conflicts and bring about more sensible intra relationship.
